The Alpe d’Huez Megavalanche is the most legendary DH Mass-Start race in the world!

Since 1995, thousands of riders from all over the world have been coming to Alpe d’Huez for a unique race: the Megavalanche ! Starting with a Mass Strat at 3330 meters high on the “Pic Blanc” glacier and its finish line in Allemond, 2600 meters further down, make this DH Marathon the longest and craziest race in the world.

From 9 to 3 days on site, come and enjoy an exceptional trip punctuated by unlimited riding, crazy entertainment and pre-races, lots of aperitifs and live concerts, and above all an anthology race !

FUNKY RACE

Crazy animation at the Mega !
Join us on Thursday evening for a special race in the heart of the exhibition village !
A maximum of 30 riders, disguised or not, on adapted bikes or not, who have to complete the maximum number of laps in 30 minutes to the cheers of the crowd !
The three fastest riders will be rewarded, along with the best (or worst) disguise and the worst bike !
Registration +15€, 30 places only

DUAL SLALOM

Curious as to which of you is the fastest in the bends ?
So come on the Dual Slalom and test yourself against the other riders !

Free practice: Wednesday afternoon 2pm-3.30pm / qualifying 3.30pm-4.30pm and Dual Slalom eliminatory for the 32 fastest times from 4.30pm to 6.00pm !

Limited to 100 people – 15€ (frame plate + time chip & open bar for participants)

NO CHAINE RACE

Who hasn’t had to finish a descent without a chain after a mechanical breakdown ? You drive differently, you limit the use of the brakes as much as possible to avoid losing speed, you pump… in short, you have fun! Join us on Thursday at the intermediate station of the Pic Blanc 1 cable car (2100m) from 2pm to 4pm but without chains for a 100% fun race ! There will be 5 possible attempts between 2pm and 4.30pm, and the best time will be selected ! 150 places only (+€5)

The 5 best adult drivers (aged 15 and over) will be rewarded, as will the 3 best ‘KIDS’ (aged 7-14).

MEGA KID

It’s time for the young riders to take part in the world’s biggest Enduro Marathon Mass Start races: the Megavalanche !
From 7 to 16 years old, future champions can have fun riding their mountain bikes on specially adapted trails and prove their skills at the group start by age category !

U17 – U15 – U13 : start from the Pic Blanc 2 cable car 2700
U11 – U9 : start from the Pic Blanc 1 cable car 2100

Mega Draisienne

For children aged 2 to 5 !

A fun event for youngsters to challenge each other, with a Mass Start like the grown-ups and an all-terrain course with small obstacles.

At the finish, podiums for the winners. But also group photos on the podium, medals and a snack for everyone!

Meet on Saturday at 3pm in the Expo Village to collect your number plates (you can register on site), with the first start at 3.30pm.

BIKE SPEED

Come and challenge the other riders to a crazy challenge !

The aim is simple: to get as much speed as possible on the snow !
Meeting point on the second wall of the Pic Blanc from 9 to 10 a.m., depending on snow conditions.

VINTAGE RACE

Old School Baby !

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Mégavalanche.
Required to come along with your oldest bike (not after 2005) and your grandparents’ outfit for a race starting from the Pic Blanc 1 cable car (2100m) on Friday 4 July at 5.30pm for a mass start all the way to the village. Meet at 5 p.m. at the Pic Blanc 1 Finish for a 5:30 p.m. departure.
Rewards for the first 3 to cross the finish line, for the oldest bike and the oldest outfit!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What happens if I don't "qualify" ?

Everyone qualifies, everyone will race from the glacier, either on Saturday or Sunday, in the level group for which they have qualified :
MEGAVALANCHE group (Sunday): the top 350* (from 1st to 35th in each qualifying wave)
CHALLENGERS group (Saturday): 36th to 70th in each qualifying wave
AMATEURS group (Sunday): from 71st to 94th in each qualifying wave
AFFINITY group (Saturday (individual time trial)): from 95th to 130th in each qualifying wave

*  The organisation reserves the right to modify the numbers of these groups depending on the snow conditions at the start and the total number of participants.

Where can you collect your Lift Pass ?

9, 8, 7 or 6-day lift passes: at the lift ticket offices (Alpe d’Huez)
3, 4 or 5-day lift passes: at Race Office with your race number (Place du Cognet, Alpe d’Huez) on Wednesday or Thursday (no collection possible on Friday morning).

Where can I wash my bike ?

Where to put your tent / van / camper van ?

We recommend you book a pitch at one of the campsites in Allemond, at the bottom of the Eau D’Olle gondola.
You can also set up in the Rif Nel car park in l’Alpe d’Huez (exact point marked on the map), an area only tolerated for the Mega week, so please respect it. Dry toilets will be available. No electric hook-up available.

Where can you find your clothes left at the start areas ?

For the Friday and Saturday : Expo Village, Stand Shop Megavalanche
For the Sunday: at the finish in Allemond or in Alpe d’Huez
Do not leave any objects of value, as the Organising Committee declines all responsibility in the case of theft or damage. Please also remember to collect your clothes in good time, as we will not send you any forgotten items.
